Davis

Davis, the third-ranked team in 6A, opened its season with a 59-38 win over Viewmont Nov. 21. The Darts were up seven points at halftime before a 36-point second-half effort put the game away.

Senior guard/forward Kendra Kitchen, a First Team All-State player from a year ago, led Davis with 17 points while sophomore guard T’maea Eteuati added 14 points, including four 3-pointers.

Woods Cross

Woods Cross defeated Layton 51-43 Nov. 21 to begin its season. The Wildcats were up by two in the close game at halftime and then three points going into the final quarter before building a more comfortable margin to pull out the win.

Junior forward Mari Nichols led Woods Cross with 14 points while junior guard/forward Grace MacArthur added 13. Senior guard/forward Katie King was also in double figures with 10 points while Kiyomi Tauataina (five points), Ili Crockett (two) and Adia Cook (one) also scored in the win.

Bountiful

In Bountiful’s second game of the season, the Redhawks faced the defending 6A champion Lone Peak squad Nov. 21 and lost 68-61.

Bountiful, the top-ranked 5A squad, was down by nine points early and 15 at halftime before outscoring the Knights by 41-33 in the second half, but it wasn’t enough in the seven-point loss.

Sophomore guard Milika Satuala scored 20 points and junior guard/forward Taylor Harvey added 18 points to account for more than half of the Redhawks’ scoring.

The Redhawks are now 0-2 to begin the year with both losses coming at the hands of two of the state’s top 6A teams.

Viewmont

In Viewmont’s loss to Davis in its first game of the year, the Vikings couldn’t match the Darts’ offense in the 19-point defeat.

Viewmont was led by junior forward/center Aubrey Mulitalo with 15 points and five rebounds. Junior forward/center Mary Carr was tops on the boards for the Vikings with seven rebounds.
