Has the James Harden trade actually been a success for the 76ers?

The Los Angeles Clippers received, James Harden, P.J Tucker, and Filip Petrusev.

While the Philadelphia 76ers received, Robert Covington, Nicolas Batum, Marcus Morris, KJ Martin, a 2028 unprotected first round pick, (Via the Clippers), two second round picks, (via the clippers) and a first round pick from the Oklahoma City thunder, and a first round pick swap.

Though many 76ers fans felt like they did not receive enough for Harden, the team has taken leaps without him. Young guard Tyrese Maxey, has now become the primary ball handler, and playmaker on the team and his averages show this.

Maxey has gone from 17 points per game, to now 26 points per game, his minutes played has gone up by six, with his shot attempts going up by four.

Now with him as the primary playmaker, his assists per game has gone from three to seven.

Many of the team’s stats have as well gone up significantly, as the ball is now shared with the whole team rather than the former iso centric system the 76ers ran with Harden.

Now the Clippers experiment with Harden has been an overwhelming failure. Harden, once an MVP, now is a large reason for the Clippers’ seven game losing streak. His turnovers have gone up, and his field goal percentage has dropped. And his lack of desire to fit in to the team system has only highlighted his weaknesses, as a teammate, his fitness, and his lack of desire to simply work hard, as his athleticism has plummeted.

Now with the 76ers on a hot streak, while the Clippers are currently on a losing streak, it does seem, that the Harden trade has been a success for the 76ers, and a failure for the Clippers.
