Rooted and Wild Adventure Co., spearheaded by founders Mandi Lotze and Amy Beenfield, has evolved significantly since our last conversation in the summer of 2023. While initially introduced during their educational Yoga and Movement classes, Rooted and Wild has since blossomed into a dynamic force, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to guiding women on a journey of self-discovery, encouraging them to step outside their comfort zones and embrace the beauty of the outdoors. The company’s success lies in its ability to provide a structured yet flexible approach to adventure, accommodating participants of varying skill levels, ages, and preferences.

“We’ve been able to guide women of all ages, from in their 20s all the way up to 70 years old,” Mandi Lotze said.

Throughout 2023, Rooted and Wild organized a series of adventurous events that epitomized their commitment to diversity in experiences. One standout event was the "Yoga and Stargazing” in Farmington, a unique blend of tranquility and cosmic exploration. Participants converged under the vast Utah sky, practicing yoga amidst the serenity of nature before delving into an awe-inspiring stargazing session. The “Women’s Backpacking Trip” in the Uintas was another remarkable highlight of the year. This expedition showcased the breathtaking beauty of the Uinta Mountains and provided an empowering experience for the women involved

“When you get a group of people together in that kind of environment, it was just magic,” Amy Beenfield said. “Definitely our favorite moment.”

As we revisit Rooted and Wild Adventure Co., the founders’ vision is now taking a new form with the introduction of the “Year of Adventure” program in 2024. This monthly subscription service has garnered an overwhelmingly positive response, opening spaces for four distinct groups within and around Davis County. Rooted and Wild’s evolution signifies not only a deepened commitment to community but also a tangible effort to guide women through a year-long journey of exploration, pushing boundaries, and embracing the thrill of the unknown.

“Everyone can go outside, it’s not an exclusive club,” Lotze said. “We’re really trying to create a space for people who have the desire, but maybe just don’t know how to do it.”

Rooted and Wild Adventure Co. has become a beacon for women seeking growth, empowerment, and a supportive community within Davis County. Beyond the allure of the great outdoors, the company stands as a testament to the transformative power of shared experiences and the endless possibilities that arise when women come together to explore, learn, and grow. In the spirit of community and a passion for adventure, Rooted and Wild Adventure Co. continues to carve a path for women to discover the joy of trying new things and embracing the beauty that lies just beyond their comfort zones.
