Mary was born on Nov. 7, 1932, in Wellsville Utah to Junius and Margaret Hawkes Murray.  Her family lived in several communities in Utah and Idaho as she grew up.  Following graduation for Ashton High School, Mary attended BYU.

In 1963, Mary and her family moved to Bountiful Utah where she remained the rest of her life.  Mary went back to school and earned her degree in Botany with a teaching endorsement from Weber State University.  Later she also earned her master’s degree in education.  Mary was an active member of the Bountiful 31st ward and held many callings.

Mary began an amazing 30-year career teaching for the Davis School District.  She taught at Oak Hills Elementary and King Elementary.  She made so many lifelong friends with fellow educators.  She loved seeing the many students she taught grow and develop into exceptional young people.
