The Viewmont High cheer squad placed third overall in the All Girl category at the 5A state championships Jan. 26 at Utah Valley University.

“State was incredible,” said head coach McKenna Hardy. “With 5A being the biggest category in the state, we were very proud of our team. It was so exciting! We had an excellent day.”

The Vikings placed third in the Game Time Dance & Cheer division, third in Cheer, fourth in Show and fifth in Dance.

Those on the VHS cheer team this year are Lainey Allington, Addie Bangerter, Halli Benedict, Bentley Bradshaw, Alyssa Charlesworth, Avery Cox, Paityn Dahlke, Abbey Dautel, Addi Dowdy, Annistyn Hartman, Isabelle Howland, Maddie Lange, Samantha Lawson, Makenna Melendez, Isabella Page, Raelyn Plummer, Lexi Rees, Avery Simpson, Brielle Smith, Ashlee Strong, Ingrid Tea, Reese Tibbits, Liz Troop and Addy Watkins.

Hardy is assisted by Marshall Underwood and Courtney Frasier on the coaching staff.

Bountiful

Bountiful came in third in the All Girl Dance category at the 5A state championship while also placing fourth in Game Time Dance & Cheer.

Davis

The Davis High cheer team finished third overall in the All Girl division at the 6A state championships Jan. 25 at UVU. The Darts were second in Show and fifth in Cheer.

Farmington

Farmington was seventh at 6A state, coming in third in the Dance & Cheer category and third in Dance.
