Davis Journal is partnering with Mountain Orthopaedics of Bountiful for our Athletes of the Week contest. Winners were chosen by our Journal sportswriters with input from local coaches.

Our male athlete of the week is Woods Cross swimmer Abel Chomjak. He had two individual first place finishes at the Mayors Cup meet, along with a first and a second place finish as part of relay teams.

Other male nominees were basketball players Rex Sutherland of Davis, Collin Chandler of Farmington, Robert Whaley of Bountiful and Brash Emery of Viewmont; and swimmers Ryan Wood of Bountiful and Zach Smith of Viewmont.

Our female athlete of the week is Woods Cross swimmer Ally Boynton, who broke her own school record in winning the 50 free along with wins in the 100 back and as part of the 200 free relay at the Mayors Cup meet.

Other female nominees were basketball players Kendra Kitchen of Davis, Jordyn Harvey of Bountiful and Emma Mulitalo of Viewmont; and swimmers Elliott Howe and Sadie Duke of Bountiful, Reese Allen of Viewmont and Kaitlyn Holladay of Farmington.
