Davis Journal

Thanks for your support of our new Davis Journal

Jan 15, 2021 01:25PM ● By Bryan Scott

First and foremost, I would like to thank you for reading the new Davis Journal. As a resident of Davis County, I could not imagine our great community without a local newspaper, a scenario that we were seriously facing a little over a month ago. I am happy that myself and the team here at the Journals have been able to keep publishing a local newspaper for Davis County.

We have received a great outpouring of support from readers like you, both in subscriptions and letters telling us  how important local news is to them, for each a different reason it seems. Every day more and more subscriptions come in, some days so fast that we can not get back to everyone but we are trying. If you have tried to subscribe either through our website, by calling us, or by dropping by our office and have not gotten through, please be patient and stay committed. We are ironing out the wrinkles as fast as we can.

I am excited that this week is the first week that we are sending out addressed papers to subscribers. We now have more than 400 subscribers and the number is growing every day. We would love to have everyone in Davis County subscribe to the paper, but we are hoping that we can get to 10,000 subscribers in our first year.

In the weeks to come I am going to be writing to you more about what we are doing here at the Davis Journal and what you, the reader, should expect from us.

I currently publish 15 newspapers in Salt Lake County, the City Journals are over 30 years old and we have been able to stabilize them over the last seven years. Of course the pandemic has impacted us, like many of the small local businesses in the nation. We have seen lower revenues and have lost some great members of our team.

We are committed to local news and making sure that we build a newspaper that can survive for many years to come.

Remember I am the publisher, and we have a great team here that is responsible for creating the Journal each week, but it is you the reader that makes everything possible. We appreciate your support.

If you have any questions please send me a letter at 837 South 500 West, Suite 201, Bountiful, Utah 84010 or email me at [email protected]. I love hearing from readers and praises or complaints, I always answer them.
