Davis Journal is partnering with Mountain Orthopaedics of Bountiful for our Athletes of the Week contest. Winners were chosen by our Journal sportswriters with input from local coaches.

Our male athlete of the week is Davis swimmer Sam Carlson. He had two individual first place finishes and two firsts on relay teams in a five-way meet with Bountiful, Viewmont, Farmington and Woods Cross last week. 

Other male nominees were swimmers Ryan Woods of Bountiful and Caden Neuenschwander of Woods Cross, and basketball players Collin Chandler of Farmington, Mason Bendinger of Woods Cross, Brash Emery of Viewmont, Trevin Ostler of Bountiful and Austin Frasure of Davis.

Our female athlete of the week is Viewmont basketball player Emma Mulitalo, who scored 34 points in victories over Bonneville and Box Elder. 

Other female nominees were basketball players Kylee Mabry and Morgan Burnett of Davis, Emrie Satuala of Bountiful, Kenna Cowley of Woods Cross and Abigail Ferrell of Farmington, and Viewmont swimmer Elle Decker.
