Davis Journal is partnering with Mountain Orthopaedics of Bountiful for our Athletes of the Week contest. Winners were chosen by our Journal sportswriters with input from local coaches.

Our male athlete of the week is Farmington swimmer Mason Drexler, who was part of three school records set at meets last week. He clocked a 1:54.30 in the 200 free, and swam on two winning relay teams for the Phoenix.

Other male nominees were swimmers Max Clifford of Bountiful, Jared Chamberlain of Viewmont and Abel Chomjak of Woods Cross; and basketball players Collin Chandler of Farmington, Robert Whaley of Bountiful, Henry Ihrig of Davis, Radek Pulsipher of Viewmont and Keegan Phung of Woods Cross. 

Our female athletes of the week are two Davis swimmers – Lauryn Hall and Lia Merrill. They won two individual titles and were part of two other first-place relay teams for the Darts in region.

Other female nominees were basketball players Kylee Mabry of Davis, Emrie Satuala of Bountiful, Lauren Weir of Viewmont, Emily Muhlenstein of Woods Cross and Valerie Kunzler Farmington; and swimmers Jessica Barnes of Bountiful, Reese Allen of Viewmont and Elle Hall of Woods Cross.
