Davis Journal is partnering with Mountain Orthopaedics of Bountiful for our Athletes of the Week contest. Winners were chosen by our Journal sportswriters with input from local coaches.

Our male athlete of the week is Bountiful swimmer Ryan Wood, who won the 200 IM region title and also swam a leg on the first-place 400 free relay at region.

Other male nominees were swimmers Eric Chamberlain of Viewmont, Abel Chomjak of Woods Cross and Mason Drexler of Farmington; and basketball players Chance Trujillo of Davis, Brash Emery of Viewmont, Truman Hendry of Farmington, Robert Whaley of Bountiful and Mason Bendinger of Woods Cross.

Our female athlete of the week is Viewmont swimmer Elle Decker, who won both the 500 free and 100 breaststroke at region and was anchor leg on the winning 400 free relay team.

Other female nominees were basketball players Kylee Mabry of Davis, Emrie Satuala and Jordyn Harvey of Bountiful, Emma Mulitalo and Emma Lindsey of Viewmont, Sofia Mokifisi of Woods Cross and Valerie Kunzler of Farmington; and swimmers Ally Boynton of Woods Cross and Kaitlyn Holiday of Farmington.
