Bountiful Ridge golfers to see ‘dynamic pricing’

BOUNTIFUL—The COVID-19 pandemic caused a lot of businesses to change their modes of operation, and from that experience has emerged a positive result for at least one of them – the Bountiful Ridge Golf Course.

At Bountiful’s City Council meeting work session on Tuesday, course professional Kent McComb explained that due to COVID-19 restrictions, the course implemented a prepaid reservation policy. He said they no longer reserve tee times with hopes that golfers will show up, but instead have paid guarantees that patrons will show up on time and with the correct number of players. This “virtually eliminates ‘No Shows’” he said in a staff report to the council.

That has led to creating a “dynamic pricing” green fee structure, moving away from traditional daily rates with multiple alternate discounted rates. It is similar to the pricing structure many other local golf courses have used. His proposal, adopted by the council, would look like this:

18 holes w/cart  $46 (Monday-Thursday)

18 holes w/cart $52 (Friday-Sunday)

Fees include a $16 optional cart fee ($9 for 9-hole rounds)

9-hole players would pay one-half rate

Junior rates are $10 for 9 holes and $20 for 18 holes

The changes eliminate the senior rate and punch card rates, though those with punch cards can still have unused rounds honored during the 2021 season. The course will also continue selling “gift rounds” at the daily rate.

“This new model along with our prepaid reservations will provide a more simplified and efficient means to operate our business while also providing the flexibility to increase play and revenues during the less busy times of day,” McComb said in his report.

The new fees include costs for corporate tournaments. Those will be $46 per 18 for Monday tourneys, and $52 per 18 for all other days. The approved fees went into effect immediately after they were approved by the council.
