Davis Journal is partnering with Mountain Orthopaedics of Bountiful for our Athletes of the Week contest. Winners were chosen by our Journal sportswriters with input from local coaches.

Our male athlete of the week is Farmington lacrosse player Davis Roche, who scored nine goals in wins over Box Elder and Viewmont.

Other male nominees were soccer players Dallin Burgin of Bountiful, Jared Burnett of Viewmont, Landon Bott of Woods Cross and Simon Jensen of Davis; and lacrosse players Rhett Rice of Davis and Sam Lefevre of Bountiful.

Our female athlete of the week is Farmington softball pitcher Delayne Baker. She had eight RBIs while also pitching the Phoenix to two shutouts last week, over Viewmont 17-0 and Woods Cross 11-0. 

Other female nominees were Bountiful softball player Eva Stoddard, Davis High golfers Cheyenne Hansen and Victoria Castro; and girls lacrosse players Kelly Maynes of Davis and Sunny Price-Huish of Bountiful.

Due to spring break this week, we will not have Athletes of the Week return until our issue on April 16.
