The Farmington High boys and Davis High girls lacrosse teams remained undefeated through a combined 14 games this season. Also winning games last week were the Davis boys squad, Bountiful’s boys and girls, Woods Cross’ girls and Farmington’s girls teams.

Davis Boys

Davis lost to Park City 21-8 April 6.

“With spring break last week it was really obvious our guys took the week off,” head coach Dillon Yocom said. “We were really rusty and weren’t mentally sharp in our game play. It was a rough loss, but we’ll let it drive us to work harder.”

Connor Johnson led the way with three goals while others contributing offensively were Rhett Rice (two goals, one assist), Mason Kilgore (two goals), Emmett Rice (three assists) and Blake Williams (one assist).

Against Syracuse April 8, the Darts won 19-7.

“We had a slow start but we finished the second half really strong,” Yocom said. “It all started with great goalie play from Kache Allen and Mason Kilgore getting things started for us on offense. We played great team lacrosse on both sides of the field.”

Kilgore had five goals with Williams (three goals), Rhett Rice (three goals, four assists), Emmett Rice (two goals, three assists), Johnson (two goals, two assists), Nick Johnson (two goals, one assist), Jordan Phelps (one goal, one assist), Mason Gagner (one goal) and Emerson Bell (one assist) also in on the offensive side. Allen had nine saves in the net.

Davis, who is ranked fifth in Division A in the first RPI rankings released this season, improved to 6-1 overall.

Davis Girls

Davis defeated Syracuse 17-6 April 8. The Darts came out strong, going up 11-2 by halftime in the big win.

“It was a great team win,” head coach Makenzie Hekking said. “The girls really came out and proved that we are the undisputed best team in our region.”

Macie Wood led Davis with five goals, one assist while Kelly Maynes (four goals, two assists), Piper Earle (three goals, one assist), Sam Wilkes (two goals, three assists), Mackenzie Coleman (one goal, two assists, Kaydence Johnson (one goal, two assists) and Emma Williams (two assists) also helped offensively.

“We knew that Syracuse is heavily dependent on their star player, Brooklyn Suttlemyre, so we had our best defender face-guard her and shut her down for the duration of the game,” Hekking said. “The defense was really anchored by senior Sierra Bastian. She successfully shut down most of Syracuse’s fast break attempts and was crucial in our success.”

Hekking also noted the play of junior goaltender Morgan Bunch who recorded eight saves, six ground balls and one caused turnover.

“Syracuse is a great team and did not make this win easy,” Hekking said. “They were quick to send double teams and outworked my girls for every ground ball. Give them another year of development and they will be a solid team.”

Davis continues its undefeated season through six games and came in at number two in Division A in the latest RPI rankings.

Bountiful Boys

Bountiful defeated Highland 13-8 April 7, scoring eight second-half goals in the win over the Rams.

Hayden Hamson had five goals and an assist to lead the Braves while Declan Watt added three. Also contributing offensively were Sam Lefevre (one goal, one assist), Payson Hadley (one goal), Rustin Lowe (one goal), Jamison Bain (one goal), Elijah Lowe (one goal), Teagan Dougher (one assist), Nate Taylor (one assist), Luke Allsop (one assist) and Tate Terry (one assist).

The Braves improved to 2-3 on the year and are 21st in Division B in the RPI rankings.

Bountiful Girls

Bountiful defeated Skyline 8-7 April 7. The Braves are now 2-1 on the season and came in 29th in Division B of the RPI rankings.

Viewmont Boys

Viewmont lost to Bear River 9-6 April 6. The Vikings were down 3-1 at halftime before giving up six second-half goals in the loss.

“It was a hard fought game,” head coach Don Stringham said. “They just had more numbers than we did.”

Abe Salmon had two goals to lead Viewmont with Mason Hepworth (one goal, one assist), Tanner Ames (one goal), Presley Gruber (one goal), Luk Vanderlinden (one goal) and Tommy Fraser (one assist) also contributing offensively.

Against Skyline April 7, the Vikings lost 13-3, going down 10-2 by the break.

“The game was close, but again, our lack of middles got us fatigued,” Stringham said. “Skyline had great sportsmanship.” Ames scored two goals to lead Viewmont with Tanner McCurdy (one goal) and Gruber (one assist) also assisting offensively.

39th-ranked Viewmont is now 3-4 this season.

Woods Cross Boys

Woods Cross lost to Bear River 6-5 in overtime April 7.

“We lost an incredibly hard-fought game,” head coach Josh Hanks said.

The Wildcats then lost to East April 9. “It was another hard-fought loss once again,” Hanks said.

Woods Cross, who is ranked #47 in Division C in the RPI rankings, is 1-5 this season.

Woods Cross Girls

Woods Cross defeated West Jordan 26-3 April 8. The Wildcats are now 2-2 this year and are currently ranked 24th in Division B of the RPI rankings.

Farmington Boys

Farmington defeated Northridge 16-4 April 7.

“We really respect the grit of Northridge. They are a tough team and well-coached and I don’t think our guys were ready for the fight,” head coach Christian Taylor said. “After the first quarter we were up 3-1 and then we raised the intensity in the second quarter and ended the half 8-1.”

The Phoenix squad scored six more goals in the third quarter and fought off the “battle” from the Knights. Cole Beynon put in four goals to go with two assists with Marcus Ball also scoring four goals. Others contributing offensively were Davis Roche (two goals), Brayden Buckley (two goals), Jaden Bennett (one goal, one assist), Easton Roberts (one goal, one assist) and Jonah Jacobsen (one goal).

“I was really pleased offensively with seven of our guys scoring and having most of the goals being assisted,” Taylor said. “Defensively, I thought our goalie Trey Pace saved us and bailed us when Northridge caught us flat-footed. Jaxton Yeates came through again and was really dominant at the faceoff.”

Against Wasatch April 9, the Phoenix won 12-10, turning a five-all score at halftime into a two-goal win. Beynon and Treyvein Rosendahl both had three goals and an assist to lead Farmington while Buckley (three goals), Bennett (two goals) and Roche (one goal) also scored.

The squad continued its undefeated season through eight games and hold a number two ranking in Division in the RPI.

Farmington Girls

Farmington defeated Box Elder 17-6 April 6 behind five goals from Ruby Roche. Also providing offense for the Phoenix was Paige Burwell (three goals), Emily Leavitt (two goals, one assist), Grace Kunzler (two goals, one assist), Karly Stephens (one goal) and Hailey Savage (one goal).
