Davis Journal is partnering with Mountain Orthopaedics of Bountiful for our Athletes of the Week contest. Winners were chosen by our Journal sportswriters with input from local coaches.

Our male athlete of the week is Viewmont soccer goalie Jarek Burnett, who had two shutouts in wins over Bonneville and Woods Cross.

Other male nominees were:

Mason Gagner of Davis lacrosse with eight goals in a pair of victories.

Davis Roche, Farmington lacrosse, with six goals in a win over Bonneville for the undefeated Phoenix.

Michael Williams, Woods Cross soccer goalie, who had a shutout in a win over Box Elder.

Chandler Gunn, Farmington boys soccer, with two goals in a 3-2 win over Bonneville.

Simon Jensen, Davis boys soccer, who scored the game’s lone goal in a victory over Layton, his ninth goal of the season.

Our female athlete of the week is Bountiful golfer Vanna Einerson, who won medalist honors at Lakeside on April 13 and again at Davis Park.

Other female nominees were:

Bountiful softball player Eva Stoddard who had nine RBIs and a victory on the mound.

Davis golfer Cheyenne Hansen shot a 78 to win medalist honors at The Barn on April 12.

Viewmont golfer Adri Summerhays who was sixth at Lakeside on April 13. 

Woods Cross golfer Natalie Christensen who tied for sixth at Lakeside on April 13.

Farmington golfer Sydney Richards who was second at Lakeside on April 13.

Davis lacrosse player Sam Wilkes, scoring seven goals in a pair of wins last week.

Viewmont lacrosse player Toree Wheatly, who scored three goals in a win over Bonneville.

Farmington lacrosse player Hailey Savage, scoring seven goals in wins over Bountiful and Bonneville.
