The Davis High boys lacrosse team secured its region championship with a 15-14 win over Fremont May 7. Farmington’s boys remain undefeated through 15 games and hope to secure the region title this week.

Davis – Boys

Davis defeated Layton 20-0 May 4 on senior night, recognizing Nathan Adams, Kache Allen, Andrew Barker, Nicholas Evans, Joshua Gibbons, Tage Jensen, Luke Johnson, Mason Kilgore, Jaxon Kimmel, Chase Lancaster, Samuel Lifferth, Justin Lundskog, Cade Norton, Jonathan Page, Jordan Phelps, Tyler Pierson, David Spjut, Taeten Stilson, Perry Sundstrom and Blake Williams.

“We had a good time honoring all of our great senior players,” said head coach Dillon Yocom. “It was a great team win. Our goalies Kache Allen and Blake Lucas played outstanding which helped us get a shutout.”

The Darts were led by Rhett Rice with five goals and three assists.

Against Fremont May 7, Davis won 15-14, pulling off a comeback with one minute and 17 seconds left in the game by scoring two goals.

“It was a tough battle back and forth all game,” Yocom said. “Our face off guy David Spjut, who won 11 or 13 face offs, went out with an injury which really hurt us. We also lost Nick Johnson to an injury so were down a bunch of guys. One of our captains and starting d-poles was out as well.”

Yocom said Kilgore led the Darts on both sides of the field with one goal and five assists. Davis improved to 15-1 on the year.

Davis – Girls

Davis defeated Layton 21-3 May 4.

“We were able to get all of our girls in the rotation and were subbing regularly given the hot temperature on the field to make sure everyone was staying hydrated,” said Makenzie Hekking.

Macie Wood led the team with two goals and seven assists while getting help from Sam Wilkes (six goals, one assist), and  Kaydence Johnson, (four goals, two assists).

Against Fremont May 6, the Darts suffered their first loss of the season with an 11-10 defeat in overtime. In the extra period, Fremont won the first draw, but goalie Morgan Bunch saved the Silverwolves’ attempt. Davis failed to put in an eight-meter try after a Fremont penalty and the Silverwolves went on to win.

Hekking noted the critical saves Bunch made throughout the game as well as freshman midfielder Olivia Lifferth’s standout performance. “She was all over the field disrupting Fremont’s clearing game and helped us win a few critical draws,” Hekking said. “She even had an impressive jump shot goal.”

The Darts are now 13-1 this season.

Bountiful – Boys

Bountiful defeated Box Elder 12-4 May 5, going up 5-2 by halftime and then scoring seven second-half goals in the big win. Sam Lefevre led the Braves with three goals and four assists.

Against Woods Cross May 6, Farmington won 15-12. The Phoenix squad is now 13-1 this season.

Viewmont - Boys

Viewmont defeated Woods Cross 9-5 May 5, breaking a 1-1 tie after the first quarter with two second quarter goals to go up one by halftime. Three goals in each of the game’s final two quarters extended the Vikings’ winning margin.
