What’s happening for July 4th in Kaysville

Jun 04, 2021 12:57PM ● By Cindi Mansel
“The 4th of July celebration is what Kaysville does really well and we are excited to get back to our traditions,” said City Councilmember Michelle Barber. Barber is the Council’s point person for the Parks & Recreation Committee and Department and gets involved in these kinds of activities for the residents (“the fun part of the job”).

This year’s celebration is slated to be held July 2-4. It is important to note that July 4 falls on a Sunday in 2021 and the City has made the determination to conduct the parade and fireworks celebration on Saturday, July 3rd. She said although uncertain on the traditional Chuckwagon Breakfast (due to gathering restrictions, timing, and ability to plan in time), the annual event will go on with the 5K/10K run, parade, and fireworks show. Other happenings could include a patriotic devotional and City musical performance.

The parade is set to begin at 10 a.m. sharp and she encouraged parade entries and for people to come out and celebrate. The parade route will be spaced out for safety reasons. The fireworks show will be at Barnes Park, there will be live music, and families are encouraged to come out, bring their yard games and picnics, and spend the evening waiting for the fireworks show.

For residents, there is a fireworks ordinance in place that prohibits discharge in prohibited locations designated as “High Fire Hazard Areas.” Fireworks can only be sold on specific dates and discharge of fireworks are allowed only during certain designated dates (July 2-4 for this holiday). The City is always looking for volunteers to help pull off these fun events. If interested, please contact the Parks & Recreation Department at 801-544-1788.
