Bountiful Lake: Fishing is slow to fair. The lake was recently stocked with channel catfish. To catch them, try using hotdogs or worms fished on the bottom.

Deer Creek Reservoir: The reservoir was stocked with rainbow trout on 6/8. Summer recreation use is high. Anglers may see better success fishing mornings and evenings, or fishing lower trafficked areas of the reservoir such as Wallsburg Bay, the Charleston area, or closer to Deer Creek Dam.

For shore anglers targeting trout, try using garlic or corn scented trout dough baits fished two to three feet off the bottom, or fished two to three feet behind a clear casting bubble – completely fill the casting bubble with water to allow the bait to slowly sink to the bottom and fish the water column.

For boat anglers targeting trout, try trolling using a Jakes Spin-A-Lure or Stream-A-Lure; Zona Lures Z-Ray, Thomas Speedy Shiner or Cyclone spoon; Eppinger Dardevle or Red Eye Wiggler spoon; Acme Kastmaster spoon; Lehr Jensen Super Duper Magnum; or, Rapala X Rap lures. Also, try using Pro Troll Trout Killer; Macks Wedding Rig UV Spinner; Apex UV Series trolling lures rigged with nightcrawler.

For shore anglers targeting bass, try using 3- to 4-inch stick/wacky soft baits, or craw/creature softbaits fished using a finesse rig such as a Texas rig, Carolina or wacky rig. Brightly colored spinner baits and top-water crankbaits can also be effective.

For boat anglers targeting bass, try using those methods mentioned for shore anglers – casting toward shore and then slowly retrieving, working the bait back toward you along the bottom.

East Canyon Reservoir and State Park: Fishing is fair to good. Two anglers who were fishing from a boat by the dam on the north end of the reservoir hadn’t caught any fish yet. Three anglers who were fishing from shore had much better success, catching eight rainbow trout. They were using PowerBait. The road over Big Mountain Pass – state Route 65 – is now open, providing access to the reservoir from Salt Lake City.

Farmington Pond: Fishing is fair. In addition to channel catfish that were stocked last week, the pond was stocked recently with 800 rainbow trout that averaged 12 inches in length.

Jordanelle Reservoir: Fishing is fair. Summer recreation use is high. Anglers may see better success fishing mornings and evenings; or, fishing lower trafficked areas/bays of the reservoir such as the Ross Creek area, the Sage Hen Hollow and McCune Hollow bays, Bone Hollow bay, areas closer to the dam, and those bays in the Provo River arm of the reservoir.

Also, try using Pro Troll Trout Killer; Macks Wedding Rig UV Spinner; Apex UV Series trolling lures rigged with nightcrawler or a few kernels of sweet corn. Also, vertically jigging spoons tipped with nightcrawler in the reservoirs various bays can be effective for both trout and wiper.

Kaysville Ponds: Fishing is fair to good. One angler who was fishing from shore caught a wiper and a bullhead catfish. She was using a worm. Two other anglers fishing from the fishing pier caught one bullhead catfish. Try using other traditional baits and methods.

Ogden River: Fishing is fair. An angler caught a good-sized brown trout recently while spin fishing with a Rooster Tail spinner.

Pineview Reservoir: Fishing is good. An angler recently shore fishing caught a smallmouth bass, a black crappie, a bullhead catfish, and a mirror carp. He was using a worm. Another angler also had success in catching 23 black crappie from shore. Two other anglers fishing from shore had success catching four black crappie using a fly. Using a drop shot they caught two smallmouth bass and a tiger muskie.

Strawberry Reservoir: Fishing is good for shore anglers, and good to great for boat anglers trolling both sides of the reservoir.

Willard Bay: Not many reports from shore anglers, but fishing is good for those fishing from boats. An angler who fished from a boat recently caught three walleye while trolling a crankbait. Anglers who are catching walleye have found success shallow running Thin Fin’s and also using deep diving lures. Both have worked. Several additional boat anglers have caught their limits of wipers. Another angler fishing from a boat caught three walleye and 10 channel catfish. An additional boat angler caught several channel catfish using minnows and marinated chicken. He found most of the cats in nine to 12 feet of water.
