West Bountiful depends on Weber Basin Water Conservancy District for approximately 80% of

its water supply. The remainder comes from the current well which is housed at 1000 North 500 West, which pumps at an average rate of 200 gallons per minute, though its productivity has been on the decline over the last 10 years. A new well house is now under construction on the frontage road which runs on the south side of the 400 North overpass.

The new well will pump up to 700 gallons per minute which will better meet the needs of the city’s growing community as well as provide a secondary water source in the event of an emergency.

According to Steve Maughan, city public works director, the project is slated for completion by

December 31, 2021. The road is currently closed to through traffic while the new water lines are installed and tested.

Maughan is hopeful that the lines which are now in place will clear testing and the road will

reopen in early to mid July.
