The high school girls soccer season has begun, with several games last week.

Bountiful got off to a fast 2-0 start with a pair of wins. On Aug. 3, the Redhawks defeated Salem Hills 3-1. Gabrielle Vance scored twice for Bountiful, and Chloe Pickett added a goal. On Aug. 5, it was Bountiful defeating Real Salt Lake Academy by an identical 3-1 score. Pickett, Caroline Hellewell and Kanani Boyer all found the net.

Davis won its season opener with a 2-0 victory over Viewmont. Simone Packer and Annie Haycock scored for the Darts, and keeper Kami Warden got the shutout. Woods Cross got the season started right with a 2-1 win over Weber. Kirsten Kirkham and Kate Howes scored for the Wildcats.

Howes remained hot with three goals in the Wildcats’ 3-1 victory over Mountain Ridge on Aug. 5. She is already the leading scorer in 5A in the state after two matches.

Farmington and Viewmont both lost opening day matches. In addition to the Vikings’ loss to Davis, American Fork defeated Farmington 3-1. Whitney Avei scored for the Phoenix. The Vikings lost 6-1 to Layton on Aug. 5, with Kim Hendrickson scoring Viewmont’s first goal of the season.

All teams returned to action starting Tuesday. Weekly results will be published here in the Davis Journal.
