For the second consecutive year, the Bountiful High junior varsity volleyball team won the Brown/Gold Dart Classic.

This year, the newly-branded Redhawks went undefeated through six matches to win the title. Bountiful beat Green Canyon 3-0, Farmington (3-0 twice) and Sky View 3-0 as well as Northridge 3-1, losing its only set of the tournament, to reach the championship game where they took care of the Knights in straight sets.

“This was a great way for us to kick off the season,” said head coach Sarah Chism. “We were able to get a lot of playing experience, form some cohesion as a team and start to find some flow at the end of the tournament.”

JV players for the Redhawks were Elle Burleson, Evalyn Chism, Claire Cook, Jordyn Harvey, Taylor Harvey, Hallie Hewlett, Jane Lewis, Lethe Pututau, Ashlie Simon and Kaylee Simon.

Bountiful’s sophomores went 2-4 in the tournament, beating Layton 3-1 and West 3-0, while three of their losses came in five-set matches against Farmington, Woods Cross and Layton. They also lost to Green Canyon in straight sets.

The sophomore team consisted of Eliza Alley, Matty Anthon, Elsie Breinholt, Ellen Davis, Audrey Derrick, Misha Eberhardt, Macie Johnson, Ryan Willard and Megan Youngberg.
