CENTERVILLE—Love is not always hearts and roses. Sometimes it takes challenges to make love grow stronger. Come take a journey of romance mixed with self discovery in CenterPoint Legacy Theatre’s production of “The Fantasticks.”

Billed as the longest-running show in American Musical Theatre, “The Fantasticks” tells the tale of two young lovers, Luisa and Matt, who find their budding relationship threatened by struggles and heartache.

The couple’s fathers deliberately meddle in their lives pushing them into difficult situations with the hope they will turn to each other for support. When Luisa and Matt find life is hard and that “without hurt the heart is hollow,” they are forced to confront reality and build their relationship through their own strengths and developing identities.

Narrator El Gallo takes the audience through this timeless classic of love and discovery that is filled with memorable songs such as “Soon it's Gonna Rain,” and “Try to Remember.” In the end, Luisa and Matt find they need each other to make it through the ups and downs of life.

“The Fantasticks” runs Mondays and Thursdays – Saturdays at 7 p.m. in the Leishman Performance Hall at CenterPoint, 525 N. 400 West, Centerville. Tickets are $16. For more information visit CPTUtah.org or call 801-298-1302. λ
