Twin Hollows Pickleball courts to be reconstructed

Jul 14, 2022 12:58PM ● By Tom Haraldsen

BOUNTIFUL—The six pickleball courts at Twin Hollows Park (also known as Cheese Park) will have one final reconstruction effort as part of their rehabilitation, and it’s a good one. City Council has approved a bid from Renner Sports Surfaces for rebuilding of the courts to repair cracks in the court surfaces.

The courts were converted in 2014 from two tennis courts that were widely unused into six pickleball courts. They were resurfaced, and striped for the sport, along with installation of new gates, net poles and nets. Two years later, city parks staff filled cracks on the courts with foam backer rod and expandable caulking. Another rehab in 2018 cleaned the courts and replaced all six nets and four poles. More minor repairs were done last year.

Earlier this year, the council agreed to reallocate some RAP funds (recreation, arts and parks) from the trails project to the pickleball court project. That was made possible when Bountiful City received a $500,000 grant from the Governor’s Office of Outdoor Recreation to be used for trails projects. So the price tag of $246,940 for repairs at Twin Hollows was made possible.

The project will include some demolition, repair or replacement of damaged irrigation, replacement of adjacent concrete walks, and replacement or removal of damaged plants or trees.

The reconstruction project should begin shortly.λ
