Davis

Third-ranked Davis defeated Mountain Crest 57-36 Nov. 28 behind 19 points from Kendra Kitchen and 14 from T’maea Eteuati.

The Darts broke open the game early and held a 23-point edge at halftime before coasting to its second win in as many games this year.

Kendra Kitchen’s 19 points were tops for Davis with T’maea Eteuati adding 14, Kate Richards 6, Shea Miller 6, Olivia Lifferth 5, Kate Willard 2, Avery Dain 2, Maya Chino 2 and Chloe Peery 1.

Against Riverton Nov. 30, the Darts again dominated with a 64-37 win. Davis came out strong with 23 points in the first eight minutes – to the Silverwolves’ 12 points – and continued double-digit scoring in the final three quarters to cruise to the win.

Kitchen led the way with 23 points while Eteuati added 16 points, including four 3-pointers. Also scoring for the Darts were Miller (8 points), Richards (6), Chino (4), Willard (2), Sydney Plummer (2), Peery (2) and Maki West (1).

Davis remains undefeated through its first three games this season, securing wins by an average of 22 points in each matchup.

Bountiful

The top-ranked team in 5A – Bountiful – got its first win of the season Nov. 28 with a 57-22 victory over Morgan.

The Redhawks got out to a strong start, going up 16-4 and then 26-13 at half. They then added 31 more points in the blowout while holding the Trojans to single-digit scoring in each quarter.

Bountiful was led by Taylor Harvey with 17 points and Milika Satuala, who was also in double figures with 10 points. Also scoring in the win were Maleah Nelson (nine points), Abby Orme (five), Anna Larson (five), Charlotte Johnson (four), Mae Johnson (four) and Adelaide Stevenson (three).

Against Spanish Fork Dec. 1, the Redhawks won 54-26 behind 16 points each from Satuala and Harvey. Nelson – who hit three 3-pointers for nine points, along with Stevenson (seven points), Johnson (four) and Larson (two) also produced offensively in the big win.

The Redhawks improved to 2-2 in the preseason.

Woods Cross

Woods Cross defeated Farmington 35-33 Nov. 30 behind 12 points from Katie King. The Wildcats got out to a five-point lead after the first quarter and remained in control of much of the game, withstanding a Phoenix comeback to pull out a two-point win.

“It was good to get the win,” said head coach David Simon. “We have some things to work on. We played a really good defensive game for three quarters, but then had some break downs in the fourth quarter.”

Also scoring for Woods Cross were Grace MacArthur (9 points), Kiyomi Tauataina (8), Mari Nichols (3) and Adia Cook (3).

“This is a great group of girls and we will continue to get better,” Simon said.

The Wildcats are now 2-0 early on in the year.

Farmington

Farmington lost a close one to Bonneville 50-48 Nov. 28. The Phoenix squad broke a 10-10 tie after the first quarter with a 17-point effort to go in at the break up six points. But they gave up 29 second-half points to the Lakers in the close loss.

Brynn Ryan and Hailey Larsen combined for 26 points while Breklyn Archibald led the team in rebounding with nine and steals with four.

In the two-point loss against Woods Cross Nov. 30, a 15-point fourth quarter comeback came up just short.

“We had a chance to tie or win the game, but our shot was just short,” said head coach Tara Ferrin. “It was a fun game. The girls were able to come back in the fourth quarter when we put a full court press on.”

Ryan’s 17 points accounted for more than half of Farmington’s offense.

“The girls are working hard and gaining experience with every game,” Ferrin said.

The Phoenix squad’s record so far this season is 0-2.

Viewmont

In its second game of the young season Nov. 28, Viewmont lost to West 58-55. The Vikings were up nine points at halftime and six heading into the final quarter but couldn’t hold off the Panthers’ comeback.

“Credit to West for their defensive pressure and turning us over 25 times on the night,” said head coach Cameron Gardner. “We were up by nine points with seven minutes left in the fourth quarter and then West kept chipping away and eventually beat us.”

Mara Mickelson led Viewmont with 18 points with Aubrey Mulitalo and Mary Carr both adding double-digit scoring with 14 and 10 points, respectively.

“We played hard the entire game,” said head coach Cameron Gardner. “We need to clean up a lot of things still.

The Vikings are 0-2 so far this year.
