Lisa Watts Baskin, North Salt Lake City Council woman started Tree City USA in 2007 by first meeting the financial and volunteer requirements. “In the end, we will have thousands and thousands of trees that will do far more good than building more buildings.”  She estimated 150 volunteers many from Chevron that donated $11,000 dedicated for tree planting. “It’s really gratifying and wonderful to see all of these people who took time out on a nasty weather day to do this. And, why would they do that? Because they’re decent folk and they want trees. It’s a lasting legacy.”
