Kaysville’s 2023-2025 Youth City Council, were officially sworn in by Mayor Tamara Tran at the Sept.5, 2024, City Council meeting.

The members are as follows: Bode Schimmer, Logan Allen, Natalie Barlow, Luke Cadwallader, McKay Clemens, David Easthope, Lucie Ellis, Amelia Guest, Jason Hayes, Andrew Murphy, Annie Murphy, Kade Warnick, Tye Williams, Macie West, and Julia Daw. Five of these students also served on the 2023-24 Youth City Council.

Members attend Davis and Farmington High Schools, and Centennial and Kaysville Junior High Schools. Students are selected based on their experience in leadership, community, and extracurricular activities, and how they can overall contribute to the Youth City Council program. Linda Francis is the Youth Council Advisor and City Councilmember John Adams serves as their liaison.

The Youth City Council is a group of youth leaders who learn and serve around the city. They take part in Local Officials Day at the Legislature, where students meet their legislators and local officials, participate in mock committees, and hear an address from the governor. This is an opportunity for youth to learn how they can engage with Utah’s political processes, and also serves as an opportunity for legislators to meet the people for whom their policymaking will have the greatest impact. The Youth Council also helps with various city events such as the USU Botanical Garden’s Scarecrow Walk and Fill the Fire Truck.

“The YCC helps in so many ways,” Tran said. “Kaysville is grateful for their interest in the program and excited for these students to have this great civic opportunity!”
