Farmington drill repeats as 6A champs

For the second year in a row, the Farmington High Nixelles won the 6A state championship, again sweeping all categories in Military, Dance and Show. This title – earned Feb. 1 at Utah Valley University – marks the fourth state title in the school’s seven-year history.
“We had quite a few injuries and setbacks this year, but the team kept focused, pushed and never gave up,” said head coach Shalice Larsen. “We had our best performances at state finals.”
Hailey Harrison and Reagan Tracy were additionally honored on the 6A All-State team.
Also on the 2024-25 team that went undefeated all season were Addison Landon, Alexus Oladi, Avery Chandler, Chanel Lee, Ciara Montoya, Greta Poulson, Hali Stromberg, Ireland Brown, Kenya Holbrook, Kiley Nixon, Lexey Rigby, Preslee Blaser, Rayden Robison, Samantha Yeates, Ava Hammond, Ava Larsen, Clara Short, Ella Edmunds, Kayen Phelps, Kierra Grant, Lilly Goff, McKinley Daly, Riley Jensen, Sydney Nash, Zaida Christensen, Maylee Carter, Millie Hughes, Stella Bonnemore, Millie Bullard, Shanley Cook, Emerie Hill, Leila Holborok, Lily Nield and Lilly Kelser.
Larsen has been assisted on the coaching staff by Marci Hartvigsen, Sue Bagley, Allie Short and Evi Hartvigsen.

Davis
The Davis High D’Ettes placed third overall at state, taking third in Military and Show and fifth in Dance.
“It was an incredible season where we took first overall at two qualifiers and second at region,” said head coach Kira Mortenson.
Senior Breana Barnes successfully defended her state and region drill down titles from a year ago, with junior Ella Randall taking second. took first place in the region and state drill down for the second year in a row with Ella Randall placing second!
Senior Lani Vaia’a and junior Ellison Parkinson were also named to the 6A All-State team.
“This team is so talented and got along so well,” said Mortenson. “The goal at state was to dance for each other rather than for themselves. I think that really resonated with them, and you could feel their love for each other out on the floor. They are fierce competitors and athletes.”
Also on the 2024-25 DHS team are seniors Jade Bangerter, Brielle Barkley, Ava Edwards, Brooklyn Hanson, Brytinn Hill, Zoey Larsen, Hazel Ramsdell and Sally Whitaker; juniors Ellie Carver, Eden Foster, Makae Hendrix, Sydney McBride, Ellie Palmer, Payton Patane, Frankie Scott, Hadlee Sims, Tessa Wilding and Brooklyn Wright; sophomores Ainsley Ahlquist, Hailey Blanchard, London Brown, Madelin Frasure, Hadley Johnson, Liv Johnston, Amelia Monsen, Liv Morris, Meg Neuenswander and Kenzlee Watson; and freshmen Kendrie Cunningham, Londyn Ehlers, Preslee Hall, Ella Haskell, Roma Holland, Mia Murdock, Kya Watson and Ruby Wright.
“Our captain Zoey Larsen really stepped up as a leader this year, and led us to such a successful season!” Mortensen said.
Mortenson has been assisted on the coaching staff by Shay Morris, Celesta Stephenson and Halle Giacalone and team coordinator Melanie Bingham.
