Farmington High senior setter Tavin Fulton, junior outside hitter Pearce Eliason and senior middle blocker Tucker Blackham return from a top-10 team from last season to a group whose motto is “I can’t, but we can.” “We want our team to understand that one person does not win or lose games and everyone on that court has job to do,” said head coach Shantell Fulton. “If we take care of each other, the team will succeed. We win together and we lose together.”

Senior opposite hitter Preston Loucks and junior middle blocker Yuvraj Multani are newcomers to keep an eye out for, according to coach Fulton.

Coach Fulton has been assisting with the FHS boys volleyball squad along with Jennifer Lowe for several seasons and the pair will now team up to run the program as last year’s coach stepped down as the season was beginning.

Many players competed on club teams and traveled to out-of-state tournaments getting valuable reps that the coaches are hopeful will pay dividends on the court this season.

Also on the FHS team this season are Samuel Alcala, Xander Crowley, Charlie Evans, Jaxon Loucks, Jacob Mun, Justin Pugmire, Liam Sayes and Devin Young.

“We have an amazing varsity team with players that love to play together,” said Coach Fulton. “They work hard and give 110% every time they are on the court. This will be a super fun team to watch this year.”

In its first match of the season March 4, Farmington defeated Viewmont 25-22, 13-25, 21-25, 25-23, 15-9 behind double-doubles from Eliason with 21 kills and 11 digs and Fulton with 35 assists and 11 digs. Loucks and Evans combined for 27 additional digs and Multani recorded four blocks at the net.

The Phoenix squad is also scheduled to face Sky View, Layton, Davis, Fremont, Weber, Syracuse, Bountiful, Layton, Davis, Fremont, Weber and Syracuse this year.
