Here is a look at games played through March 11.
BOUNTIFUL—The boys team began the year with a 9-4 loss to Alta. Junior Carter Terry scored twice for the Redhawks, with single goals from senior Jace Bell and junior Dawson Allsop. Bountiful graduated 20 seniors last year and so the team is young. Seniors Britton Tidwell and Tate Hallaway are also expected to be top contributors, along with sophomore Harrison Barlow.
The Lady Redhawks are 0-2 after preseason losses to Davis 17-4 and Bingham 16-5. Junior Claire Jensen scored twice against the Darts, with junior Lucy Johnson and sophomore Brynna Castleton each adding a goal. Jensen had two more goals against Bingham, with Johnson, senior Ella Gillian and junior Gabby Baker each scoring a goal.
DAVIS—The Davis boys are 2-0 after wins against Bingham 15-5 and Riverton 16-4. Seniors Brek Jensen and Luke Donigan each scored four times against Riverton, with seniors Rocky Edelman and Dawson Draper each adding three goals apiece. No scoring stats were posted for the Bingham win. First year coach Trevor Yocom has a number of seniors on this year’s team.
Davis’ Lady Darts are off to a 3-0 start, with wins over Box Elder (16-13), Skyridge (15-12) and Bountiful (17-4). Senior Esther Facer has already scored 10 goals in three games, with sophomore Kaebrie Reed finding the net eight times. First-year coach Devin Williams has a good mixture of youth and experience which Davis will need in a highly competitive Region 1 this year.
FARMINGTON—The Farmington boys’ team is 1-2 on the year. The Phoenix defeated Sky View 16-2 before losing to Woods Cross (14-4) and Brighton (21-13). Sophomores Brock Milne and Kai Beynon lead Farmington in scoring with five goals apiece. Beynon also leads the team with four assists.
Farmington’s girls are 2-0 with wins over Bingham (12-7) and Bonneville (20-4). Senior Kate Carter has seven goals thus far, senior Clara Russon has six, and juniors Kassie Moffat and Lydia Judd both have five.
VIEWMONT—The Viking boys are 1-1 thus far, with a 13-7 win over West Jordan and a 12-6 at Pleasant Grove. Junior Luke Cluff has led the Vikings with 11 goals in two games. Junior Brigham Shupe has added three for Viewmont.
The Lady Vikes are off to a 2-0 start with big wins over Jordan (16-2) and Hillcrest (15-3). Junior Cecilia Walton has scored 12 goals and added four assists in two games. Senior Brienna Wallis has nine goals and junior Maddie Gaskill six for Viewmont.
WOODS CROSS—The Woods Cross boys are 1-1 this season, with a 14-4 win over Farmington after an 11-4 loss at Skyridge. Senior Carter Kringlen leads the Wildcats with five goals, with a host of players scoring three times thus far – senior Lucas Hammond and juniors Dawson Staten and Elliot Bendinger.
The Lady Wildcats are back with another great start – 3-0 on the season for the team that went to the state quarterfinals a year ago. Woods Cross has beaten Provo 9-6, Lehi 5-3 and Timpview 13-1. Senior Emmy Richards is the top scorer with 10 goals, and teammates Lilia Dunn (sophomore) and Rylee Linton (senior) each have seven scores. Dunn also leads the team with six assists.
