#2 Bountiful and Viewmont remain undefeated in Region 5 play

Bountiful
Second-ranked Bountiful defeated Roy in three sets 25-14, 25-20, 25-15 March 18.
Against Wasatch March 19, the Redhawks beat the Wasps 25-16, 25-18, 19-25, 25-23.
On May 20, Bountiful swept Northridge 25-11, 25-21, 25-18.
On March 22, the Redhawks lost to Bingham in four sets 20-25, 25-15, 25-19, 25-20 and then defeated Olympus 25-14, 23-25, 25-23, 27-25.
Bountiful is now 7-3 overall and 4-0 in Region 5 play.
Viewmont
Viewmont beat Bonneville 25-23, 25-22, 25-20 March 18.
Matt Welsh led the Vikings with 12 kills with Thomas MacKay adding six and Dominic Dirkmaat two. The trio also had four blocks between them with MacKay recording three aces from the serving line.
Against Woods Cross March 20, Viewmont again won in three sets 25-16, 25-17, 25-12.
Welsh put away 14 kills while Dallin Lether had six. Lether ran the offense with 31 assists and also led the team defensively with 10 digs. Welsh also helped defensively with nine digs and Jonathan Williquette added two. Lether and Williquette both had two aces as well in the win.
At the Pleasant Grove Tournament March 21-22, the Vikings defeated Skyridge 2-1, Brighton 2-0, Farmington 3-2 and Mountain View 3-0 while losing to Pleasant Grove 2-0 and Olympus 2-1.
“We had an enjoyable and competitive tournament,” said head coach Karl Lippa. “The tournament had a strong lineup of teams with strong competition from 4A, 5A and 6A teams. I was pleased with how well the boys came to play in this tournament. We continue to show progress in the parts of the game that we have been focused on in practice. I am pleased with how the boys worked through both great players and adversity against some great teams.”
Pleasant Grove is now 8-4 on the season and undefeated in four Region 5 matches.
Davis
Davis swept Morgan 25-18, 25-20, 25-15 March 19. The Darts were led by 12 kills from Luke McKnight and 11 from Chase Valentine. Jack Bennet ran the offense with 15 assists and Brandon Sims was tops defensively with eight digs on the back line.
Against Ridgeline March 20, Davis won 17-25, 25-14, 25-14, 25-19. McKnight again led offensively with 11 kills and finished off a double-double with 10 digs. Valentine had 10 kills with Bennet recording 19 assists while also getting up nine digs. Siona Faeamani and Brandon Sims both also served three aces each and Jackson Kuma was big at the net with six blocks.
The Darts evened up their season record at 3-3.
Woods Cross
Woods Cross lost to Box Elder in three sets 25-15, 25-10, 25-11 March 18.
The Wildcats were also swept in a match against Viewmont March 20.
The team fell to 0-4 in Region 5 and are 5-7 on the season.
