March and April weather can start to feel nice but still have frosty nights and late spring snow. This shouldn’t stop you from thinking about spring and yard projects. Luckily, Weber Basin Water Conservancy District (WBWCD) offers multiple classes from early spring through the fall to help with those projects. They offer classes from successful vegetable gardening to perennials for spring color to irrigation to creating healthy, attractive, water-efficient lawns. Classes will focus on basic principles, timing and practices to be successful.
Classes are generally located at the district’s headquarters. Classes with a limited number of spots available are on a first come first served basis in regard to registration. Classes will open for registration no earlier than six weeks prior to the scheduled date. You may also register by calling the district at 801-771-1677.
Upcoming in April, a class offering the recipe for a healthy, drought tolerant or water efficient lawn will be offered. It consists of much more than just adding water and fertilizer; insect and disease control, proper mowing practices, irrigation system scheduling and maintenance and understanding what grasses actually do in their growth cycles are all factors that will impact the health, resilience and beauty of your lawn. In addition, the types of grass you choose to grow can make all the difference in the inputs you need. Come learn how to succeed and be water efficient for a healthy yard.
