Bountiful, Viewmont remain at the top of Region 5 boys volleyball

Bountiful
#2 Bountiful swept Box Elder 25-11, 25-20, 25-14 April 8.
Against Woods Cross April 10, the Redhawks again won in three sets 25-18, 25-14, 25-16.
Bountiful remains undefeated through eight Region 5 matches and improved to 11-3 on the season.
Viewmont
Viewmont beat Roy in three sets 25-19, 25-15, 25-16 April 8.
“It was a well-balanced team effort,” said head coach Karl Lippa. “Roy was very scrappy. I was pleased we had 10 different players contribute to kills in the match.”
Jonathan Williquette recorded 13 assists in helping run the offense while also having two digs on the back line. Dominic Dirkmaat and Harrison Nagel combined for five kills and four digs while Curtis Gerber added three digs. Nagle’s 3.0 passing rating was also noted by Lippa.
Against Clearfield April 10, the Vikings again recorded a sweep 25-22, 25-22, 25-20.
Matt Welsh had 14 kills and seven digs to lead offensively and defensively. Thomas MacKay also had double-digit kills with 11 and added two blocks, two aces and two digs. Dallin Lether ran the offense with 35 assists to go with three blocks and three digs.
Viewmont remains in second place in Region 5 with a 7-1 mark and an 11-5 overall record.
Farmington
Farmington defeated Fremont 25-19, 25-16, 25-18 April 8.
Tucker Blackham’s 12 kills led offensively with Tavin Fulton recording 42 assists in the match. Charlie Evans had 12 digs for the defense with Yuvraj Multani adding six blocks.
Against Weber, the Phoenix squad went the distance and pulled out a five setter 27-29, 30-28, 19-25, 25-20, 15-12.
Pearce Eliason had a monster match with 37 kills, 10 digs and five blocks. Fulton ran the offense, recording 49 assists. On defense, Evans led with 17 digs with Blackham having 14 digs and Preston Loucks adding 11. Multani also added five blocks.
Farmington improved to 3-1 in Region 1 and 8-4 on the year.
Davis
Davis lost to Syracuse 25-18, 28-26, 25-23 April 8.
Chase Valentine led with 15 kills and Luke McKnight put away 11 while Jack Bennett and Siona Faemani combined for 29 assists in running the offense. On the defensive end, Valentine, McKnight and Brandon Sims each recorded nine digs and Gavin Morrell and Jackson Kuma had four blocks each at the net.
Against Fremont April 10, the Darts won 25-16, 25-18, 21-25, 25-15. McKnight put away 17 kills and served up five aces on the night. Defensively, Jacob McAuley had five blocks and Austin Nelson had nine digs.
Davis is now 3-1 in Region 1 play and 6-4 this season.
Woods Cross
Woods Cross lost to Bountiful in three sets April 10.
The Wildcats fell to 3-5 in the Region 5 standings and 8-8 this year.
