WXHS senior ties for first at The Bluff

Woods Cross High senior Kennedee Pearson shot a 2-under-70 at Schneiter’s Bluff April 10, tying for medalist honors with Bonneville’s Whittni Johnson. Her finish helped the Wildcats come in second as a team with a score of 340.

“Kennedee had an amazing day!” said third-year coach – and her father – Brandon Pearson. “The next best score was an 80.”

Sophomore Tess Poulsen and junior Vivian Oaks tied for sixth with rounds of 88. Also competing for the WXHS squad were Katelyn Norman (94), Makenzie Pearson (95), Charli Judd (100), Esme Cahoon (102) and Rachel Wright (107).

“We’re working on some things at practice that I’m hoping will help improve our collective team scoring,” said coach Pearson.
In a tournament at Riverside Golf Course April 7, Kennedee Pearson place second with an 18-hole-score of 72 in leading Woods Cross to second-place as a team with a score of 340.

Three other players – Poulsen, Oaks and Makenzie Pearson – were in the top ten for the Wildcats.

“It was a good weather day for the girls,” said coach Pearson. “We’re getting better and we still have a lot of upside with this team this year.”
In its first tournament of the season March 24, Woods Cross finished second at Lakeside with a score of 356 to Bonneville’s 350.

Kennedee Pearson was third with a 77 while Oaks tied for seventh with a 91 and Poulsen tying for 10th with a 93. Other scores for the Wildcats were Makenzie Pearson 95, Norman 103, Bella Lakey 105, Cahoon 109 and Judd (111).

“The girls had a great day to play golf in,” said coach Pearson. “It was a shaky start for our team, but we managed to take second.”

Also on the WXHS team this season are Lille Benion, Jane Boynton, Savannah Enquist, Jane Lakey, Elle Nylander, Libby Phillips, Ellen Pugsley and Sadie Wray.


Bountiful

Bountiful High’s Cambria Ohlson tied for third at Schneiter’s Bluff, shooting an 80, to help the Redhawks place fourth as a team with a 383.

Others competing for Bountiful were Izzy Kuehne (94), Emily Peterson (101), Demaree Wernli (108), Sadie Barlow (109), Macey Robinson (110) and McKayla Hesslon (123).

At Riverside, the Redhawks were fourth with a team score of 402.

Ohlson won medalist honors at Lakeside with a round of 71. Kuehne was fourth with an 86. Other scores for Bountiful were Wernli 111, Robinson 117, Peterson 120, Barlow 122, Rachael Robertson 131 and Liz Harper 139.



Viewmont

Viewmont High placed fifth at Schneiter’s Bluff, scoring 399 as a team, and was led by Brinley Carr with a round of 94. Also participating for the Vikings were Berklie Fox (96), Alexis Boyle (97), Isabelle Inkley (112), Lillian Parker (121), Savoy Ashworth (123) and Ella Shupe (129).

Viewmont was sixth at Riverside with a team score of 419.

Carr tied for seventh at Lakeside – shooting a 91 – with Fox (104), Shupe (112), Boyle (115), Inkley (118), Ashworth (119) and Parker (124) also competed for the Vikings.
