BOUNTIFUL—Easter is a special time for Christians. As part of observing Good Friday, the Bountiful Utah North Canyon Stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints held an Art Exhibit on Jesus Christ.
“We invited anyone and everyone from our community area to come and join and participate – specifically on ‘how do you see Jesus’ in your life,” said North Canyon 7th Ward Bishop Kelly Passey. “Whether drawings, paintings, carvings, sculpture, songs, poems, or other – it has been a meaningful experience we have asked people to contemplate since January to celebrate this season.”
Passey said the stake president asked them to host the exhibit again because it was so successful last year. “He wanted us to make it even bigger.”
Three wards have been working on it for about three months, he said. “Participants made bread, others carvings. It’s a great way to think of Christ whether you’re artistic or not.”
There were several pictures of Christ but one was particularly unique. “We took pictures of 130 kids, youth and Primary children in the stake and put the pictures through a program that digitized them to create the picture of Christ,” said Passey. There was a magnifying glass hanging on the easel for visitors to look at the faces more closely.
The purpose of the event was to invite all to come unto Christ and to share “how they see Jesus” in their life – regardless of background, religion, etc., he said. “We invited people to come and participate in our service. We wanted to let the community know that everyone is welcome. Everyone needs Jesus in their life.”
