Woods Cross wins Eagle Mountain girls golf tourney; Bountiful’s Cambria Ohlson ties for medalist honors

Woods Cross
The Woods Cross High girls golf team placed first – by seven strokes – at the Eagle Mountain golf tournament April 14 with a team score of 338, led by Kennedy Pearson’s round of 78 that put her in third.
Tess Poulsen tied for fourth with an 85, Vivian Oaks was sixth in the 86th and Katelyn Norman was 10th with an 89 for more top-10 individual finishes.
“The team played great,” said head coach Brandon Pearson. “It was the most difficult course we’ve played yet this season and we had our best overall team score.”
Also playing for Woods Cross were Makenzie Pearson (95), Esme Cahoon (100), Charli Judd (102) and Ella Nylander (116).
The Wildcats are neck-and-neck with Bonneville in the Region 5 team standings – with a 343.5 to the Lakers’ 343 – with four regular season tournaments to go. Kennedee Pearson, Poulsen and Oaks are in the top 12 individually.
Bountiful
Bountiful’s Cambria Ohlson tied for medalist honors at Eagle Mountain with a round of 77, helping the team to a fourth-place finish. Also competing for the Redhawks were Izzy Kuehne (91), Maicey Robinson (107), Emily Peterson (109), Demaree Wernli (110), Sadie Barlow (118) and McKayla Hession (123).
Bountiful stands fourth in Region 5 with Ohlson and Kuehne among the top 12.
Viewmont
Viewmont took fifth at Eagle Mountain, led by Brinley Carr with a 97. Other scores for the Vikings were Berklie Fox 103, Alexis Boyle 109, Ella Shupe 114, Lillian Parker 115, Isabella Inkley 127 and Savoy Ashworth 133.
Viewmont’s 415.8 stroke average is currently fourth in Region 5.
Davis
At Schneiter’s Riverside April 17 in a Region 1 tourney, Aubree Tanner tied for eighth place with a round of 88 while Haley Merrill, Kate Monson and Emersyn Seeley also contributed to the team score.
“I have been very impressed with Haley, Emersyn and Bella Rice and how they have put in the work to improve this season,” said head coach Mikey Jerman. “I am excited to see how the team finished this season with our goal being to move into the #4 spot by the time we’re heading to state.”
