Woods Cross

Woods Cross’ Kennedee Pearson won medalist honors at Crane Field April 22 with a round of 68, five strokes ahead of Bountiful’s Cambria Ohlson. The Wildcats finished second as a team with a score of 324, also led by Katelyn Norman’s eighth place showing with an 83 and Vivian Oaks’ ninth place finish with an 85.

“We took second by one stroke with Bonneville beating us with a hole-in-one on the last hole,” said head coach Brandon Pearson. “Although we didn’t win, it’s hard not to cheer on an amazing shot like that. Kennedee played great and Katelyn had her personal best round.”

Also competing were Tess Poulsen (88), Makenzie Pearson (90), Esme Cahoon (95), Rachel Wright (98) and Charli Judd (102).

At Sun Hills April 24, Woods Cross won with a team score of 332, led by Kennedee Pearson with a second-place showing after a round of 73. Also placing in the top-10 was Poulsen with a season-best score of 78 and Oaks with an 88, tying for ninth.

“The weather was cold and windy for the first couple of hours,” Coach Pearson said. “It died down and the scoring conditions got better. We saw some good play from our team. Kennedee continues to anchor our varsity team, and it was great to see Tess have her best round of the season.”

Farmington

At The Barn April 21, Farmington won by three strokes. Junior Kate Dewsnup’s round of 79 was the Phoenix squad’s top score. Senior Claire Norton had an 85 and seniors Ellie Baugh and Tynisha Coleman finished with 86s.

“It was so close!” said head coach Stephanie Belnap. “Some of our players stepped up when others didn’t have a great day! The girls are making some good decisions, being patient with the process, and having amazing attitudes! We are so happy for them.”

There’s a tight race for the overall Region 1 title between Farmington, Fremont and Syracuse.

“It’s going to be close and all the girls are going to give their all!” said Belnap.

Bountiful

Bountiful’s Cambria Ohlson shot a 73 to finish second at Crane Field, leading the Redhawks to a fourth-place showing with a 349 team score.

Other Bountiful scores were Izzy Kuehne 88, Emily Peterson 90, Sadie Barlow 99, Demaree Wernli 103, Maicey Robinson 109, McKayla Hession 111 and Zuri Monson 112.
