Bountiful

#2 Bountiful swept Northridge 25-14, 25-12, 25-13 April 22.

In a match of the top two Region 5 teams April 24, the Redhawks defeated Viewmont 25-17, 21-25, 22-25, 25-22, 15-8.

“It was an exciting and competitive match!” said head coach Sarah Chism.

At the Sky View Tournament April 25-26, Bountiful went 6-0 defeating Morgan 2-0, Mountain Crest 2-0, Green Canyon 2-0, Sky View 2-0, Farmington 2-1 and Riverton 3-0.

“It was a lot of volleyball and our team responded well,” said Chism.

Farmington is now 21-4 on the season while maintaining a hold on Region 5 with a 12-0 mark.

Davis

Davis swept Farmington 25-14, 26-24, 25-16 April 22. Chase Valentine put away 12 kills with Jack Bennett leading the offense with 16 assists. Brandon Sims was tops on the defense with eight digs.

Against Syracuse April 24, the Darts again recorded a sweep with a 25-18, 25-16, 25-14 win. Luke McKnight hit .593, putting away 17 kills off of 27 attempts, with Bennett recording 18 assists to go with three aces. Sims had 10 digs on the back line.

Davis is now 7-1 in Region 1 play and 13-5 overall.

Farmington

In its three-set loss to Davis, Pearce Eliason had nine kills and five digs to lead Farmington offensively and on the defensive end.

Against Fremont April 24, the Phoenix squad won 25-16, 25-15, 25-19. Charlie Evans and Xander Crowley both recorded 15 kills with Eliason adding 14. Setter Tavin Fulton had a double-double of 23 assists and 14 digs. Yuvraj Multani had 12 blocks at the net and Liam Sayes got three aces at the serving line.

At the Sky View tournament April 25-26, defeated Hillcrest 2-0, West Field 2-0, Box Elder 2-0 and Riverton 2-0 before losing to Bountiful 2-1 and Sky View 2-1.

Farmington is now 6-2 in Region 1 and 17-7 this season.

Viewmont

Viewmont defeated Woods Cross 25-22, 25-14, 25-20 April 22.

“Carson Tovey put on an impressive point scoring display with 19 kills with only one hitting error to complement his four aces from the serving line,” said head coach Karl Lippa, also noting the junior‘s four digs and two blocks. “Dallin Lether directed the team well with 34 assists, four kills, three aces and two digs. Thomas MacKay provided excellent attacks with six kills and two blocks.”

Sophomore Sam Higginson was tops defensively for the Vikings with nine digs.

In its five-set loss to Bountiful, Lether had a double-double of 41 assists and 12 digs while also adding four blocks and an ace. “He ran the offense effectively connecting with many hitters on some tremendous pressure from their offense,” said Lippa. “Tovey came in strong from the beginning of the match leading the offense with 19 kills along with nine digs and three blocks. At the other end of the court, Matt Welsh was strong from both the front and back row complimenting the team on 11 kills, 10 digs and one ace. This was a match where both teams treated the audience to some spectacular plays with big hits, bigger blocks and relentless defense. It was a great match to be a part of again in this local rivalry.”

Viewmont is now 10-2 in Region 5 and 14-6 this year.

Woods Cross

After being swept by Viewmont, Woods Cross defeated Bonneville 29-27, 21-25, 25-19, 25-22 April 24.

The Wildcats are now 4-8 in Region 5 play and 12-13 overall.
