Woods Cross

Woods Cross took first at Rose Park April 28 with a team score of 334 behind a medalist finish from senior Kennedee Pearson who shot an even par round of 74. Tess Poulsen finished fourth with an 82 with Vivian Oaks shooting an 88 and Makenzie Pearson an 89.

Other scores for the team were Katelyn Norman 90. Charli Judd 98, Bella Lakey 99 and Rachel Wright 115.

“We’re starting to show the progress we’ve been working on and waiting for,” said head coach Brandon Pearson. “We’re hoping this trend continues as we gear up for region and state.”

At Eaglewood April 29, the Wildcats team won by 26 strokes over second-place Bonneville – with a score of 330 – with Kennedee Pearson again winning medalist honors with a round of 74.

“We had another solid day, coming out on our home course and taking care of business,” Coach Pearson said. “Eaglewood is not an easy course and typically scoring averages for girls golf are significantly higher than others we play at.”

“Kennedee continues to anchor our team with solid play and great leadership,” Coach Pearson said. “Over the last two matches, she’s gained a two-point lead for the Region 1 medalist position as we head into our region championship.”

Poulsen shot a 78, a season-best, as part of a “great 1-over back nine [to place third],” according to Coach Pearson. Oaks also had her best round this spring with an 81 for a fourth-place showing. “Vivian nearly had an ace on the par-3 fourth hole and left herself with a six-inch birdie putt,” Coach Pearson, while also noting Makenzie Pearson’s role on the team as a “solid contributor as our ‘new to golf’ freshman who has a lot of upside potential.”

Other scores for Woods Cross were Pearson 97, Esme Cahoon 101, Norman 106, Judd 114 and Wright 118.

Bountiful

Bountiful’s Cambri Ohlson shot a 79 to finish third at Rose Park, leading the Redhawks to a fourth-place finish as a team with a score of 367. Izzy Kuehne tied for sixth with an 85 to also place among the top 10.

Other scores for Bountiful were Sadie Barlow 100, Emily Peterson 103, Macey Robinson and Damaree Wernli 105 and McKayla Hesion and McKenna Hills 114.

At Eaglewood, Ohlson was fifth with a round of 86 and Kuehne’s 93 tied for tenth. Bountiful was again fourth as a team with a score of 392.

Also playing for the Redhawks were Barlow (105), Robinson (108), Wernli and Rachel Robertson (109), Peterson (115) and Hills (118).
