Davis

Davis defeated Fremont 7-3 April 29. The Darts went up 6-0 and held on for the win.

“We won behind a great team defensive effort,” said head coach Todd Street. “Serena Roth pitched a great game and helped herself with great hitting. Riley Jaques consistently has been a great catcher for us this year and is a very good hitter in the 4 spot. Chloe Peery had a great game in left field and Jewel Korth and Adelyn Turpin made some great plays in the middle infield. Nora Sunderland continues to hit the ball well and led us with two RBIs while also making some nice outs in centerfield. We continue to play solid defense and have good at bats.”

Peery, Turpin, Slouf, Roth and Jaques also drove in runs in the win.

Against Layton May 1, Davis won shutout the Lancers 9-0, turning a scoreless game after three innings into a rout with seven innings in the fourth and fifth and two more late runs.

Cambell Christensen had a day, pitching the Darts to the win with six strikeouts, and recording five RBIs on a 3-for-4 performance at the plate. Sunderland, Turpin and Katie Klauman also had an RBI each.

“We played well defensively and Cambell pitched a great game,” Street said. “With the win, we clinched at least a share of the Region 1 championship. We hope to win it outright on Tuesday against Weber.”

In a rescheduled game with Bountiful May 2, Davis won 2-0. The Darts got on the board in the second inning and added another run in the final inning in the shutout.

“Serena was amazing as our pitcher, holding them to one hit [and striking out six],” Street said. “Our defense was stellar with Jewel making play after play at shortstop. Hadlee came up big with a triple that scored the winning run. Hannah Garlock had three stolen bases and scored the winning run.”

The Darts are now 18-6 this season and remain undefeated in Region 1 play through eight games.

Bountiful

Second-ranked Bountiful defeated Roy 15-0 April 29, adding 11 fourth-inning runs to a 4-0 lead to run away with the game.

Against Layton April 30, Bountiful won 4-0, going up a run early and then adding three late runs in the shutout.

Dylan Carpenter struck out 13 Lancers batters to pick up the win in the circle while Yates, Miller and Hoff brought in runs for the offense.

The Redhawks then pulled off a 5-4 win over Clearfield May 1. In a back-and-forth extra-innings game, Bountiful scored a run in the bottom of the seventh for the walkoff win.

Kiley Gazafy and Brooklyn Wright both recorded four RBIs to lead the offense with Lola Ogzewalla adding three, Ruby Andrus and Sophia Strong two and Hadley Crowley one. Meghan Fields picked up the win in the circle, striking out five Warriors batters.

Against Syracuse May 1, Farmington lost 13-12. The Phoenix had an 11-8 lead in the fifth inning but couldn’t hold on in the loss.

In its 10-run loss to Viewmont April 29, Ayala and Winegar had the only hits for Woods Cross.

Against Olympus April 30, the Wildcats lost 23-3. They were down 17-0 until the bottom of the fourth inning when Winegar put them on the board, batting in three runs.

In a game against Northridge May 1, Woods Cross won 10-9. The Wildcats had led much of the way until the Knights evened the score at 5-all to take it to extra innings. In the eighth inning, nine runs were scored by both teams with Woods Cross getting five of them in the walkoff win.

“It was such a fun and awesome game!” said head coach Casey Plowman. “Northridge scored four runs in the eighth inning and so we had to score five to win and we figured it out! Audrey hit the game-winning single to score two runs.”

Ayala went 3-for-5 from the plate while also stealing two bases in the win. Benson struck out eight Northridge batters in a complete-game performance. Kaylee Moen was 2-for-4, driving in two runs while Winegar also was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Also bringing home runs were Hemos (one), Savannah Juggert (one) and Ashlynn Nelson (one)

The Wildcats’ Region 5 record stands at 4-10 with a 7-13 season mark.
