Centerville plans summer kids classes, movies and more

SUMMER CAMPS

Just Dodgeball

Community Park, 1350 North 400 West, Centerville

6 and up; $15 per session

Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 8 – 9 a.m.

Sessions June 10-12; July 8-10; Aug. 5-7

Sports & Fitness Camp 

Community Park, 1350 North 400 West, Centerville

$35 per session

Monday to Thursday, 9 – 11 a.m.

June 2-5, July 14-17 ages 3 to 5 

June 9-12; June 16-19; June 23-26; July 7-10; July 28-31 and Aug. 4-7 ages 6 and up

Sports & Fitness Camp includes a variety of different sports and may include basketball, volleyball, flag football, pickleball, disc golf, corn hole, spike ball, baseball, kickball, track and field, capture the flag, hockey tennis, aerobics, obstacle course and dodgeball.

Outdoor Adventures

Location TBD

Self-paced: outdoors adventures on own timeline; all ages; available June – July. Each activity earns a sticker. Free

Tasty Town Cooking Class

Craftastic

Creative and fun made-from-scratch crafts tailored to each week’s theme: Nature, June 3-5; Under the Sea, June 10-12; Paper June 17-19; Animals June 24-26; Edible Art July 8-10; Dyeing for Some Crafts July 14-17; Space July 29-31; Wonderful World of Disney Aug. 5-7

Lego Challenge Creations

STEM Experiments

Each week kids will have the opportunity to conduct a hands-on STEM themed activity.

Gaming Nights

City Hall, 250 N. Main St, Centerville

All ages; free

Mondays, June & July 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. 

Play Nintendo Switch games on the city’s big screens. Board and card games are also welcome.

Whitaker Tea Party

The Whitaker museum at 168 N. Main is accepting reservations for Elizabeth's Victorian Tea on Saturday, June 7 at 11 am.  The menu includes a variety of teas and lemonade, three courses, and entertainment. Tickets are required and can be purchased via the link below for $20 per guest.  Victorian hats and dress are encouraged.

MOVIES & MUSIC IN THE PARK

Local families can enjoy some free movies in the park this summer with Centerville’s Movies & Music in the Park series. Most movies will have a concert or other activity prior to the screenings. Except where noted, these activities are held at Smith Park, 300 North 100 East, Centerville.

June 6 – “Lilo & Stitch”

7 - 8:30 p.m. - Concert in the Park featuring the island music of Pa'ina Project at

9 - 10:30 p.m. - Movie in the Park “Lilo & Stitch”

Those who attend are invited to wear their favorite Hawaiian shirts.

June 20 – “Paddington in Peru”

7 – 9 p.m. - Hang out with butterflies in the butterfly house.

9 - 10:30 p.m. - Movie in the Park “Paddington in Peru”

July 11 – “The Wild Robot”

7:30 - 8:30 p.m. - Bird demonstration with Nick from Long Wing Inc.

9 - 10:30 p.m. - Movie in the Park “The Wild Robot”

July 18 – “Freaky Friday”

7 - 8:30 p.m. - Concert in the Park Heber Matute and band.
