Davis County Senior Services will be hosting a free shred day Friday, May 16 at the South Davis Senior Activity Center. “We’re doing our part to help seniors fight fraud and get rid of documents safely,” said Trevor Warner, Communications Manager Davis County Health Department (DCHD). “We also want to reduce elder abuse like someone taking their money or possible identity theft.”

Some items to dispose of are: 

• Documents with personal information such as your social security number
• Documents with personal information about your medical history
• Documents with your credit card information or credit scores
• Junk mail with credit card offers 

The event is from 10:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. The activity center is located at 726 S. 100 East, Bountiful. 

June 12 is Elder Abuse Awareness Day, said Warner. “It’s a free conference where you can learn about connecting older adults to community resources and services as a way to prevent abuse, neglect and exploitation.” The virtual conference is from 10 a.m. – noon. Register at bit.ly/UEAAD25.
