Davis
Davis defeated Cyprus 15-3 May 5 in a non-region matchup. The Darts were down by 1-0 early before putting up 11 runs in the second inning and taking over the game.
“It was a great day for Cambell Christensen pitching, holding them to three runs” said head coach Todd Street. “The player of the game goes out to Riley Jaques who had two home runs, two doubles, went 4-for-4 and had eight RBIs on her 17th birthday. It was a remarkable game! Hadlee Isaacs also came up big with a home run and a double with four RBIs. The team is playing great!”
Adelyn Turpin, Ella Nielson and Jewel Korth also each brought in a run in the win.
Against Weber on Senior Night May 6, Davis won 18-2, blowing up a 2-0 game with 16 runs over the game’s final two innings.
“The seniors were amazing!” Street said. Katie Klaumann played great at 1st base and hit well with an RBI. Libby Miller was in right field and had a triple and had three RBIs. Hadlee Isaacs was at 3rd base and continues to hit well with an RBI. Brynlee Beckstrand came in and had a double to right field, bringing in two runs. Sophia Slouf, our designated hitter, ended the game with a walk-ff double with two RBIs. So proud of our amazing senior class.”
Serena Roth struck out six Warriors batters to pick up the win in the circle while Chloe Peery’s four RBIs and Adelyn Turpin’s one RBI also contributed on the scoreboard.
“With this win, we won the region title outright,” Street said. “This means we are back-to-back region champions for the first time in Davis High history!”

“It was a great night for our seniors!” said head coach Haleigh Mortensen. “I have had the amazing privilege of coaching Brooklyn and Lola since they were freshman. To watch them grow into not only amazing young women but incredible softball players has been so great. They are two incredible girls and I have been lucky to be their coach! Our third senior Miranda [Hampton] transferred to us as a junior and was injured all season. She has been a great addition to our team. I couldn’t be more proud of these girls! We are going to miss them tons but are excited for their next step towards their futures on and off the softball field.”
Farmington was 12-10 overall on the year and 4-6 in the Region 1 standings.
The 6A state tournament will be held May 15-23.

Woods Cross
Woods Cross lost to Box Elder 19-4 May 6. The Wildcats scored four runs in the first inning but then surrendered six runs in the bottom half of the inning and the game got away from them.
“We came out swinging out of the gate so that was fun,” said head coach Casey Plowman.
Bahiyyih Hemo brought in two runs and Kaylee Moen was 2-for-2 at the plate with a double.
Woods Cross ended the regular season with a 7-14 overall record and were 4-10 in Region 5.
In the Regional round of the 5A state tournament, the 21st-seeded Wildcats played No. 12 Clearfield. In Game One May 10, Woods Cross lost 15-0 and then in Game 2 May 12, they lost 10-0 – managing just combined hits in both losses – ending their season.
“This group is a young group who has worked extremely hard to get to where we are now,” said Plowman. “It has been a hard couple of years and they have put in the work in the offseason to get themselves better. I had a group of younger girls who were new to the game and they showed up everyday to get better too. They asked really great questions and wanted to get better and contribute. I love being a part of a team where they all get along and really do enjoy their time together! We have made some great memories this year on and off the field!”
Plowman noted that her team’s seven wins was significant in a program that only won four games the past two seasons. “We also made it to state where we haven’t done that in at least two years,” said Plowman. “I’m super proud of the girls this season and with us having no seniors I am really excited about what is going to come next year! I also feel really fortunate to have had the coaching staff I had this year. I am grateful for their help, ideas and support.”
