LAYTON—Davis County has more than 8,000 registered businesses. The Davis Chamber of Commerce selected five businesses to be recognized at the annual Business Awards Banquet 2025 held at the Davis Conference Center, Sept. 25. The awards honor outstanding businesses who have made significant contributions to the community and economic development of Davis County. The Chamber also presented Bob Stevenson with the Legacy Award for his long time contributions to the community.

2025 Award winners:

• Business of the Year: Lakeview Hospital
• Community Impact: Texas Roadhouse, Layton
• Small Business of the Year: True Pros Heating and Air
• Innovation Award: Larklean
• Employer of the Year: Bonnell Aluminum

“The innovation award celebrates ideas and effective use of technology,” said Davis Technical College President Darin Brush, who presented the award. “They see economy and innovative creativity as advantages and that they are essential to success.”

The award celebrates the company’s commitment to industry. “What sets them apart is their effective use of technology and pushing the boundaries and finding new solutions to strengthen that commitment to industry and to have a meaningful impact on the community,” he said.

It shines a light on the trailblazers, said Brush. “They remind us that progress comes from those who are willing to be committed as we move forward.”

This is only the second year for the Rising Star Award. “The award recognizes young professionals for their remarkable impact in the community, for their companies and for their talent, character and commitment to excellence,” said Chamber member Angela Price. “They stand out for their innovation, drive and dedication to making a difference.”

The Rising Stars are:

• Tyson Reeder, Chick-fil-A, Layton

The Business of the Year Award is judged by financial performance and competitive advantage as a business and company growth, said Chamber member Jason Smith before presenting the award to Lakeview Hospital.

“This morning I was making my daily rounds,” said Lakeview CEO Troy Wood. “I was walking through the ICU and heard a woman crying uncontrollably. I didn’t want to intrude so I just peeked in. It was a nurse I had hired 24 years ago. She was standing by her husband who was on a ventilator and getting some bad news from the physician. All I could really do was offer a shoulder to cry on.”

Wood said although it is nice to get recognized, the important thing for the hospital is caring for patients. “We like the saying ‘care for them like they’re your family.’ We make the promise to each one of our patients to provide the quality of care we would want our closest loved ones to receive. I really do feel like everyone who walks through our doors are our closest loved ones. We’re all interconnected, brothers and sisters in this world.” 

“Can we be the light?” said Davis Chamber President/CEO Angie Osguthorpe. “Can we enjoy our similarities and our differences? That’s the only way to do it.”
