The high school boys golf season concluded on Tuesday, with Skyline earning the 5A state title and Corner Canyon capturing gold in 6A.

Locally, Viewmont placed seventh in 5A, finishing with a team score of 601. Skyline’s team score was 575, just one shot ahead of second-place Olympus.

For the Vikings, the top scorers were junior Corver Barnes, senior Oliver Gladwell, sophomore Chase Dalton, junior Joe Gladwell, sophomore Isaac Tingey and senior Kimball Essig. Viewmont was 12 over on day one and 13 over on day two. The tournament was played at TalonsCove Golf Course in Saratoga Springs.

Both Bountiful and Woods Cross had teams that qualified for state, but neither made the cut after the first day.

In 6A, Farmington placed sixth as a team with a score of 599, 23 over par. Corner Canyon finished first at 549, 27 under par on the Sleepy Ridge Golf Club in Orem.

The Phoenix golfers whose scores qualified were seniors Jack Summerhays and Kayden Williamson, sophomores Coulson Summerhays and Cruz Davidson, and juniors Griffin Belnap and Max Clapham. 

Davis also qualified as a team but just missed the cut after day one.
