FARMINGTON—Members of the Farmington EMS, Police Department and Fire Department were treated to lunch last week at Legacy House of Park Lane in appreciation of their response to the residents there. The event was part of Western State Lodging and Management’s (WSLM) “Be Loving Kindness Campaign.” WSLM manages the facility.

“It’s a meaningful connection we have for those who serve,” said Shauna Chavez, executive director at Legacy House. “We want to give back. They’re an integral part of our building.”

One nurse can’t do what they can at a skilled facility or what a rehab center can do, she said. “They’re medical techs not nurses. If a resident falls they need help. Emergency services are great to come and they always show up with a smile.”

As part of WSLM’s annual Be Loving Kindness Campaign, properties across the WSLM portfolio joined together to demonstrate their commitment to leading with values and creating loving and meaningful connections in the communities they serve. Each WSLM property was invited to host a “Be Loving” activity – partnering with a local nonprofit to bring people together through service-focused events, a WSLM release said.

Some of the first responders get to know the residents, said Chavez. “They’ll come in and say ‘hello.’ We recognize that what they do isn’t a desk job. They might have to pick up and run.”

“Legacy House of Park Lane has long believed in honoring the people who make our community stronger, and this appreciation lunch is one small way for us to express our gratitude,” said Jennifer Knecht, Chief Revenue Officer of Western States Lodging and Management. “Welcoming Farmington’s first responders into our community gives us the chance to pause, say ‘thank you,’ and offer them the same care they so generously give to others. Events like this reflect our ‘Be Loving’ commitment by bringing people together in kindness, connection and appreciation.”

Chavez said the first responders are an important part of what goes on at Legacy House of Park Lane. “It’s us working side by side to take care of the residents.”
