As the year comes to a close we’d like to take a look back at the journey the Davis Journal has taken in 2025. In January, due to economics, we had to make some changes to the weekly paper. Printing a physical paper and delivering it to homes became too expensive and paper and postage costs have increased dramatically over the last few years. Because of that, Jan. 31, 2025 was the last Davis Journal weekly newspaper. Our printed monthly is still going out to more than 45,000 homes in Davis County.
However, the Journal wanted to continue delivering the same quality content that readers had come to expect so the weekly shifted to online at DavisJournal.com. Over the past year, we have provided the same coverage of schools, city councils, county commission and other community news and made it available on our website.
The Journal has also created a daily newsletter with the top stories of the day that goes out to all of our subscribers. It has been very successful and continues to grow. Currently we have more than 1,000 subscribers and project that in 2026 that number will climb even higher.
Our goal here at the Journal is to see the weekly printed newspaper return. If our subscriber number climbs to 2,000 we believe that can happen. Since the change, we’ve had very loyal supporters. We appreciate that – we couldn’t do what we do without you.
To allow our staff the opportunity to spend time with family and friends over the holiday, the daily newsletter will not be published again until Jan. 5.
