SALT LAKE CITY — The Conference Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will close to the general public for nearly a year beginning March 30, 2026 through March 1, 2027, as preparations accelerate for the anticipated reopening celebration of the Salt Lake Temple.

Limited exceptions will be made for major scheduled gatherings, including April and October General Conference and other large events such as Tabernacle Choir Christmas concerts.

Church officials say the temporary closure is intended to allow for critical construction work, infrastructure upgrades, and exhibit development tied to the upcoming temple celebration expected in 2027. Parking at the Conference Center and elevator access to parking areas will continue to operate during this period.

The update also noted continuing progress across Temple Square. Construction crews are beginning to remove scaffolding from sections of the temple exterior, while finishing work continues inside baptismal areas. Seasonal installations, including Easter displays, are also planned as renovation efforts move forward.

The long-running renovation project at Temple Square has included seismic upgrades, structural reinforcement, and modernization of visitor spaces. Leaders say the next year will represent a key transition period as exterior improvements become more visible and planning shifts toward reopening events.
