Region 6 boys soccer is proving to be competitive, but Bountiful is more than holding its own.
The Redhawks are 4-2 in league play and 6-2 overall. In the Region 6 standings, Bountiful shares second place with Skyline, and both teams are a game and a half behind 5-0 Alta.
Before taking time off for spring break, Bountiful fell just short of toppling Alta when the two teams met on March 31. Play on the Hawks’ home field, Bountiful lost 2-1 after falling behind 2-0 at halftime. Landon Thompson assisted on a goal from Ezra Christiansen in the second half, but the Redhawks couldn’t find the equalizer.
Bountiful returned to action on April 9 in a non-region contest with Layton Christian, after our press deadline. The next region game is April 14 at home against Viewmont.
Through nine games, Bountiful has had seven scorers, with Cameron Martin leading the way with eight goals. He’s also second on the team with four assists, one behind Austin Childers’ five. Christiansen is second on the team with five goals. Davis Kessler has notched a pair of shutouts in the net.
Davis
After three Region 1 matchups, no one has been able to overcome Davis.
The Darts have a perfect league record and are 8-2 overall as of April 9. On April 10, after our press deadline, Davis had a date at Weber.
The most recent game was a thriller, with Davis outlasting Farmington 3-2 at home on April 8. The contest was a tale of two halves. Following first-half goals from Davis’ Kasen Smith, Tyler Roe and Cooper Harwood – with assists coming from Harwood, Henry Tanner and Luke Jolley – Farmington roared back in the second half.
Following halftime, Dax Patrick and Kade Mackintosh tallied goals for the Phoenix, nearly completing a big comeback and forcing overtime.
All three Davis wins in Region 1 play have been by two goals or fewer. Davis has enjoyed balanced scoring, as a total of 10 players have found the back of the net so far this season. Harwood and Smith are the leaders with seven goals apiece. Harwood also paces the squad with six assists.
Davis steps out of region action on April 15 for a game at Layton Christian.
Farmington
The Phoenix are 6-2 overall as of our press deadline. Their loss to Davis was the first setback in region play, though Farmington has only played two region games. The Phoenix played at Syracuse on April 10.
Farmington’s loss to Davis also broke a three-game winning streak in which the Phoenix had shut out each opponent. On the season, Farmington has held five opponents without a goal and one other foe (Box Elder on March 6) to a single goal.
Similar to Davis, Farmington has enjoyed a variety of goal scorers this season. Nine players have registered goals, highlighted by Jack Burrup’s nine goals. He also tops the team with four assists.
Viewmont
It hasn’t been a banner season for the Vikings. The 2026 campaign has given the Vikings both lopsided loss and heartbreaking defeats.
But the team’s last outing was a memorable one.
Shaking off the disappointment of 10 losses to start the season, Viewmont took out its frustrations on Woods Cross on April 7 with a 5-1 blowout win. Carson Linquist had a goal and two assists for Woods Cross, which scored three of its five goals in the second half. Viewmont’s goal total in the victory matched what it had scored in five previous region games, all losses.
As of April 9, Lindquist leads Viewmont in goals with four. He shares the assist lead with Gavin Buck and Jayson Dunroe, who each have two.
After Viewmont’s game with Bountiful on April 14, the Vikings will have another week before their next game on April 21 at first-place Alta.
Woods Cross
The Wildcats are still searching for region win No. 1.
Woods Cross had a solid 2-1 start to the season heading into league action, but the region portion of the schedule has proven to be difficult for the Wildcats. Through six games in Region 6, the Wildcats have three goals while giving up 20.
The Wildcats’ had a chance for a win on April 9 at home against Olympus, but Woods Cross fell by the count of 2-0. Woods Cross next plays at Brighton on April 14 when it hopes to break the streak of setbacks.
Outside of region play, Woods Cross has been strong.
The Wildcats had a non-region matchup with Roy on March 27, prevailing 2-0 against their former league mates. Both Wildcat goals came before halftime, courtesy of Gabriel Orihuela. Henry Wood had an assist, and Matt McKay played well in the goal, earning the shutout.
Through nine games in the 2026 season, Orihuela, Pineda and Henry Wood each have a pair of goals to pace the team in scoring. Woods is the top assist player with two.
Season rankings
With the regular season still four weeks away from wrapping up, team still have time and opportunities to jockey for playoff positioning. The current RPI standings, however, are favorable to Davis, which is No. 2 in Class 6A, trailing only Lone Peak. Farmington is right behind Davis in the No. 3 slot.
In class 5A, Bountiful is No. 7, in a position to host its opening playoff game. Woods Cross is No. 18, while Viewmont is 21st out of 30 teams.
