At long last, local high school boys lacrosse teams are jumping into region battles—with the state playoffs looming in May.
Though the boys lacrosse season started the second week of March, Region 6 teams have yet to face one another. That all changes the week of April 13.
Viewmont opens up league games on April 15 with a road contest at Skyline, which is 3-7 on the year. The 4-6 Vikings will look to start off the region slate on the right foot, having gone 3-4 in Region 5 a year ago and 7-12 overall. Region 6 features seven teams, and the Vikings hope to be in the mix for a league title.
Contending for first place won’t be easy. Region 6 has some talented teams, including Bountiful, Alta, Brighton and Olympus.
Viewmont’s final region tuneup didn’t go so well. The Vikings were trounced by Bear River, 20-5 on April 10. It was the first game in two weeks for Viewmont, which had defeated Layton 9-5 in its previous outing.
Heading into its game with Skyline, Viewmont has scored 68 goals while giving up 91.
Bountiful
The Redhawks could very well be the team to beat in Region 6 this season.
Bountiful played well in non-region games, building a 7-1 record. The team’s only loss was a 16-5 defeat at state power Park City on March 13. Otherwise, the Redhawks have been unbeatable, outscoring foes by a cumulative 102-60. In four of its eight games, Bountiful has scored at least 16 goals.
Most recently, the Redhawks defeated East 17-10 on March 27, thanks largely to a monster game from star player Carter Terry, who dominated with nine goals and three assists. Mason Tidwell added three goals.
Terry’s outburst against East accounted for one-third of his season total of 27. Terry is eighth in Class 5A in goals and eighth in points with 40. Madden Rieck is the second-leading goal-scorer for the Redhawks with 11 goals. Goalie Ivan Holt has 56 saves. Dawson Allsop has been an all-around force. The senior midfielder has five goals, five assists, 55 ground balls and two caused turnovers.
Bountiful plays Viewmont to start off its Region 6 play on April 17, and the slate won’t get any easier. The Redhawks then play at Highland on April 20, followed by a home game with Olympus on April 22.
Woods Cross
The Wildcats also have yet to play a region game, but that will change on April 15 when they take on Olympus at home. Woods Cross has a 2-9 overall record but does enter the region opener with some momentum.
On April 8, the Wildcats took down West Jordan 18-10 at home, picking up their first win since a 17-16 triumph over Cedar Valley on March 19. Against West Jordan, Woods Cross picked up 13 goals in the first half and never allowed more than three goals in any one quarter. It was the third time this season that the Wildcats hit double figures in goals.
After facing Olympus to start Region 6 games, the Wildcats host Brighton on April 17. They’ll play seven league games before heading to the state tournament.
Farmington
Scoring goals hasn’t been a problem for the Phoenix.
In running its record to 7-1 overall, Farmington has scored 126 goals, an average of 15.8 a game. Perhaps more impressively, Farmington has allowed just 44 goals, fewest in Class 6A.
The Phoenix have scored at least 10 goals in every game but one. The only exception was when they had eight goals in a one-point loss to Corner canyon on March 17, the only defeat of the season so far for Farmington. In its seven wins, Farmington hasn’t allowed more than nine goals in a contest.
Region play opened on the right foot for the Phoenix, an 11-9 triumph over Weber on April 9. Numerous players contributed to the victory, and six players found the back of the net. Cole Smith and Brock Milne led the way with three goals apiece. Tyson Hoskins and Brandon Barrus shared duties in the net and combined for 18 saves.
Farmington collides with Davis on April 14 for the next region game. This precedes at home game for Farmington against Syracuse on April 16.
Davis
The defending Class 6A runners-up are finding life to be a little more challenging this season, but the Darts still have plenty of talent and firepower in 2026.
Last year, Davis won its first 19 games, getting all the way to the state championship game before falling to Corner Canyon. Davis has three losses in 10 games this season, with two of those defeats coming by two goals. The other loss was to state power Park City on March 20.
The Darts are off to a good start in league play, however.
Davis opened the Region 1 slate on April 7 with a hard-fought 9-6 victory over Syracuse. Davis allowed just one goal after halftime and had four goals in the opening quarter.
The Darts took down Layton in their second region game, winning 10-2 on April 9. After hosting Farmington on April 14, Davis plays at Weber on April 16.
Ten players have scored goals for the Darts this season, and nine players have recorded assists. The leader in goals is sophomore Deven Wood who has netted 11 to go along with five assists. Tristan Tucker has made 27 saves in the net.
