Woman injured in hit-and-run accident in Centerville
CENTERVILLE—A 67-year-old man was arrested Thursday in connection with a hit and run the morning of April 16.
Jeffrey Warren Brown, of Ogden, allegedly hit a 77-year-old woman who was walking with her husband along Island View Drive about 6:50 a.m. The white SUV was traveling northbound and struck the woman and knocked her to the ground.
The vehicle did not stop and left the scene. A nearby private video captured the incident, Centerville Police said.
The victim was conscious and alert when she was transported to the hospital but police said she suffered multiple broken bones.
After canvassing the neighborhood, detectives found additional private videos of the vehicle. They identified the vehicle on a Flock Safety license plate reader camera near the area and time frame, a release said.
The vehicle was located at a residence in Ogden and detectives contacted the driver. The vehicle had damage and evidence consistent with being involved in a pedestrian collision, police said. Brown was identified as the driver and he told detectives that he thought he had hit a garbage can.
Brown was booked into the Davis County Jail for failure to remain at an accident involving serious bodily injury.
