Missing hiker’s body found in Farmington Canyon
FARMINGTON—The body of a man who had been missing since last Tuesday, April 21, after he went camping up Farmington Canyon, was located on Friday, April 24.
The Davis County Sheriff’s Office with assistance from Utah Department of Public Safety Air Crew, found the body of Matthew Bodle after a search of the area.
Family members said that Bodle was dropped off early Tuesday morning with a three-wheeler and camping equipment. They became concerned when they could not reach him and contacted the Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to the canyon immediately and conducted a search but were unable to locate Bodle, a release said. The search was suspended Thursday due to severe weather in the area. The search resumed on Friday at which time Bodle’s body was found.
Officials with the Sheriff’s Office said that due to the difficult terrain deputies utilized specialized resources, including drones and air support to search and access the area.
The Office of the Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death, the Sheriff’s Office said. At this time there is no indication of foul play.
